Volume icon missing from the system tray!
This is a video tutorial on how to fix the common problem of the missing sound or speaker icon in the windows vista, 7 or XP system tray. The volume icon is missing and can be restored by following some simple steps using the Properties menu or by using the regedit command.
Another thing you can try, (this is not in the video) is to right click on the desktop - go to task manager, click on explorer.exe and click End process. Then in the Task Manager Menu go to file - new task (run) - type explorer and choose open. The sound volume could appear in the system tray. If this doesn't work, follow the steps in the tutorial. Good luck!

Increase sound volume in Windows 7
When upgrading to Windows 7, one notices a significant change to the sound volume. For whatever reason, Windows 7's sound volume is much lower!
Even if you have the latest drivers, no improvement. This setting we found worked for us and maybe for you, try it out! Don't expect some dramatic increase, but still, the volume is higher.
