Now come the issues. The ordinary guy goes to the store, buys a wireless router, goes home, plugs it in and sees that it works. At this point he's not aware that although the Wi-Fi is SETUP, it's not SECURED, meaning that anyone with a wireless device can connect to it, just like he did.
The most common disadvantages in this are:
1. With every person that connects, your bandwidth gets shared. So your speed will decrease.
2. Even if you don't care about the speed, you should care that if a hacker connects to your Wi-Fi network, he could penetrate your computer and obtain confidential files from it. (By the way, we have a great offer this month on Norton 360 on Amazon, check it out in the right menu).
3. Even if your computer is secured with a nice antivirus software like Norton, an attacker could use your network and thus, your internet account for internet fraud or something, and all those problems will be logged by your IP address.
Only for these three important reasons (and there are at least a dozen) you should secure your network. Watch this video by Isaac Grover.
